How to get to Bang Kachao?
Reaching Bang Kachao is straightforward and very affordable. there are two ferry crossings:
Khlong Toei Pier: Take the MRT to Khlong Toei Station or grab a ride directly to Wat Khlong Toei Nok Pier. From there, small ferries cross the river to Kamnan Khao Pier in about five minutes.
Bang Na Pier: Take the BTS Skytrain to Bang Na Station, hop in a short taxi to Wat Bang Na Nok Pier, and take the local ferry across to Wat Bang Nam Phueng Nok Pier for 7 THB each way cash only.
Dierectly by car: If you prefer traveling by car, you can take a taxi directly over the Bhumibol Bridge, though taking the river ferry is much faster and more scenic.
Getting Around Bang Kachao
The undisputed best way to explore the island is by bicycle. You will find several rental shops directly at the ferry piers. Renting a bicycle typically costs around 50–100 THB for the entire day. The island features a web of quiet roads and narrow, elevated concrete footpaths that wind through orchards and jungle foliage. If biking is not an option for you, motorcycle taxis are readily available at the piers to drop you off at key spots.
When is the best time to visit Bang Kachao?
The timing depends on what kind of experience you want: Weekend vs. Weekday: Visit on a Saturday or Sunday if you want to visit the floating market and experience the lively local food stalls. If you prefer absolute peace, quiet trails, and having the park to yourself, visit on a weekday. The best time of year to visit is during the cooler, dry months between November and February for the most comfortable cycling weather.

there are loads of temples dotted arond the island and the best are the quiet neighborhood temples like Wat Bang Krasop or Wat Bang Nam Phueng Nai to experience peaceful local community temples.

Firefly Spotting
Bang Kachao is home to 4 types of fireflies that are found in the mangrove areas as they are attracted to the nipa palm and Lamphu tree. When the sun goes down the fireflies will put on a fantastic display, there is an official firefly viewing area that is hard to find as the signs are all written in Thai. We also found loads around our homestay.

Compared to other places around thailand Bang Kachao doesn’t have a large food scene but there are still plenty of great places to eat and cozy jugle cafes to chill at.
