Brazil is home to wide range of delicious food that pulls influence from it’s mixed heritage and local influences. In this post we will show you some mouth watering dishes you need to look out for when visiting Brazil.
Moqueca
Moqueca is a seafood stew made from coconut milk, peppers, tomatoes, ginger, garlic spices with fish or prawns. It’s slow-cooked in a clay pan and comes out bubbling like colourful caldron of goodness!
Feijoada
Feijoada sometimes called Brazil’s national dish is a stew made with black beans, beef and pork come and served with rice and farofa(toasted casava). It may not be the most appealing dish to look at but it’s full of flavour and warms your soul.
Brazilian BBQ
Brazil has some of the best BBQ in the world and another dish you have to try at least once when in the country. Cooked over flame with only salt to season, the meat will melt in your mouth and remain in your memories forever! No exaggeration it’s that good!
Açaí
Açaí is a dark purple berry that grows on Açaí palm trees in the Amazon rainforest. Açaí bowls are the most popular way to eat the berries and are made with frozen açaí puree served in a bowl, often with granola and banana and you will normally have multiple topping options to choose from. Amazing to have for breakfast or to cool down in the hot day.
Pastel
Pastel is pastry that is stuffed with ingredients and then deep fried. You will find Pastel everywhere and it’s delicious pocket of joy! The carne seca as well as ham and cheese where probably our favourite flavours.
Acarajé
Acarajé is made of black-eyed peas that are formed into a ball, deep-fried in palm oil, split in half, then stuffed with a flavourful spicy paste, green tomato and shrimp. You can find the dish sold by street vendors and as a beach snack.
Coxinha
A popular Brazilian street food snack made from chopped chicken and covered in dough, it’s then battered, and fried. A perfect combo is to pair Coxinha with the Brazilian soft drink Guarana Antarctica which is a guarana flavoured soft drink and a must try when in Brazil.
